Awesome, Especially for Students August 29, 2010 cdp791 I am a college student and a great affordable printer is essential. I love the design of this printer and the cartridges last a long time. I love the option of getting the XL cartridge so i dont feel like i'm constantly buying ink like i was with my older model printer.
Overall a good printer August 28, 2010 T. Song (MA, USA) Set up was easy, but the speed of this machine is just Ok. One thing you have to know is in the package there's NO usb cable included, that made me mad.
All in one easy! August 24, 2010 Pittgrad79 The HP 4500 printer was so easy to set up in my home office. Once installed into my wireless router I could access with all my wireless laptops in the house. The fax part of the setup was easier than I expected since I have a DSL. Just pluged in and away I went. A+ in my book and I have been dealing with printers for 20 years. The price of the printer was a bonus.
Most problems Ive ever had with an HP printer August 15, 2010 Danny Styles We installed this printer and had it working for about a week and then the problems started. We called the HP technical support line and after an hour of diagnostics they decided to issue a replacement. The problem was with the optical scanner, it stopped scanning so we couldn't fax or copy. We waited two weeks for the replacement. The replacement arrived and we set it up. When we powered it on the error message "remove foam/ cartridge jam". We called technical support again to try to resolve the issue. Same story, one hour and they tried to get us to accept a replacement. here we go again...
Useless August 8, 2010 R. Parker We couldn't even get this thing to connect to our Linux computer via USB. The computer correctly identified the printer, but then couldn't communicate with it. A couple of hours of research revealed that the problem has something to do with the HP's USB port id. The network connection also appears to be problematic because someone on a linux forum who used a network connection couldn't get the scanner to work. So, it doesn't work reliably with USB or wireless, at least in Linux.
