Perfect for simple printing jobs July 12, 2010 OM We have a few of these in our office. Perfect for plain old office printing with no fancy features. Very low ink consumption.
Good for Home May 24, 2010 M. Golandaz Bought it for my home and work great, as HP's are suppose to, except for 1 small complain, when it picks the paper it makes an exceptionally loud sound, and this happens on every single page it prints. Other than that great quality, compact in size does everything a laser printer is suppose to do. Before buying for my home I had a chance to buy this model for my work but did not work good as at work we have network environment, since it does not have PCL6 driver it was not compatible with our ERP so had to return it.
HP LJ P1006 is a great compact printer May 7, 2010 G. Harris I use several mobile workstations that need a compact printer. The HJ LJ P1006 fills that bill. It is very efficient. With it's resolution capabilities, is able to print manual schemetics and drawings in detail.
Best paperweight I have ever owned May 6, 2010 W. DAntuono (There's no place like home.) I have owned many personal laser printers over the years. Most of them I have eventually given away because I was upgrading to something better. Originally I purchased a small Brother for about $50.00. It worked great but I gave it to my father to "upgrade" to this P1006. I got this as a steal from Newegg on a shell shocker special. I have had nothing but issues. The worst issue is the fact that sometimes it just won't print. Then I have to remove the usb cable, purge the job and restart the computer. This happens quite often with this printer. HP insists it's my computer but being a tech I know better. I have 3 customers with this printer and all are experiencing the same issues using 3 different Windows versions. My gut feeling is it's a drive issue. I have the latest drivers installed. The second issue has to do with toner. My last laser printer got about 3000 prints per toner cartridge. If this one gets 600 prints I'd be surprised. HP used to be a top notch company but with a 25.6% failure rate with their laptops within the first 3 years I guess their printers are following suit. Such a shame. On the plus side this is a beautiful looking laser printer. It is the nicest looking paperweight I have ever owned.
Mac/Snow Leopard IS NOT fully compatible May 2, 2010 GroovyGramps 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
HP needs to be a bit more specific when they claim this printer is Macintosh compatible. It really isn't compatible with the Snow Leopard operating system. I bought this printer for my new Mac because it would support manual duplex printing. I was so disappointed. Duplex printing is NOT available on the Mac; that option is grayed out. HP support's reply to my inquiry: "I am afraid the option to perform manual duplexing is not possible because of the limitations set in the new operating system." ALSO - I have discovered the menu selection for Supply Levels displays "Information Not Available." It's kind of important to know what the ink/toner level is. So, sadly, I am returning the printer that seemed to be ideal for my uses because it DOES NOT OPERATE AS ADVERTISED.
